The National Hispanic University has approval from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) to recommend qualified candidates for the Multiple Subject, Single Subject (English, Math, Science, Social Science, PE, Art, and Spanish), Mild to Moderate Education Specialist Teaching Credentials and BCLAD/CLAD Certificates.
NHU has state approval for the Multiple Subject California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) waiver.
NHU received eligibility to participate in federal assistance programs.
While The National Hispanic University is not regulated in Texas per Chapter 132 of the Texas Education Code, the university is authorized to operate in California by virtue of exemption under California state law because it is regionally accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Authorization is not an endorsement of the institution. Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to all other institutions.
