Dr. Guim has been the chair of the Business Administration department at The National Hispanic University since 2001. Between 2005 and 2009, he served as the director of the Translation and Interpretation certificate program, and he currently teaches business and language-related courses. In addition to his career in academia, Dr. Guim works as a consultant in the business, education, and international development fields. His fieldwork includes consulting in Argentina, Burma, Cambodia, Chile, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Prior to joining the university, Dr. Guim taught M.B.A. and doctoral courses at other universities. His background includes experience working as a marketing researcher; sales, business, and econometric analyst; and expert witness in public-utility rate cases. He was co-owner and vice president of Advance Transportation in San Francisco and has held positions with various corporations and government agencies, such as Southern Pacific Communications; Bank of America; ATARI; GTE; the Office of Ratepayer Advocates of the California Public Utilities Commission; and the Office of Economic Policy, Planning and Research of the State of California.
