Edirle Menezes, Ph.D.

Research Interests
Development of subjectivity, early biliteracy development, and assessment

Edirle Menezes has been working in the field of child development as a researcher and educator for the last 15 years. She serves as program coordinator and chair of NHU's Child Development Department. Dr. Menezes was responsible for developing the associate and bachelor's degree programs in child development. Prior to NHU, she served as a preschool director and was responsible for developing a new assessment approach for dual language learners. Dr. Menezes is the author of the book Children's Play and the Socio-Cultural Nature of Subjectivity and has published articles in several journals. As an advocate for young children, she is actively involved in various community-based child development projects at the city, county, and state levels.
