Roderick Castro, Ed.D.

Research Interests
Underachievement, nontraditional giftedness, giftedness in underrepresented populations, motivation and persistence studies in underrepresented populations

Dr. Roderick Castro has almost 20 years of experience working as a teacher and administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He has designed and taught classes on English language acquisition and differentiation and nontraditional giftedness in the early childhood program for the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of California San Diego Extension. Dr. Castro currently teaches courses at several universities, including UCLA and the University of Southern California. His research on underachieving gifted Latinos has been recognized by local and state educational organizations. He recently became supervisor of special education programs in the San Francisco Unified School District.
