Shawn D. Vecellio, Ph.D.

Critical thinking, assessment, diversity, social justice, philosophy of education

Dr. Vecellio has been a faculty member in the Teacher Education department at The National Hispanic University since 2002. He teaches credential, certificate, and master's courses in educational foundations, diversity, equity, and social justice. He also advises master's candidates in thesis and project completion. His prior experience includes teaching at the elementary, middle, and high school (mathematics) levels. Since joining the university, Dr. Vecellio has developed online courses for the Master of Arts in Education and Bachelor of Arts in Child Development programs and has been a manuscript reviewer for Issues in Teacher Education and Teaching Education. He is a member of the academic advisory council for the San José Job Corps Center and also serves as a member of the Board of Institutional Reviewers for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
