Amber Picou-Broadnax, Ed.D.

Research Interests
Ethnic identity development of children and young adults, first-generation college student development, minority students, graduate student culture at nontraditional universities, wisdom development, leadership and organizational development

Dr. Picou-Broadnax has spent more than 20 years in the field of education. She joined The National Hispanic University as a faculty member in 2011 and currently teaches several undergraduate liberal studies and general education courses. She also teaches graduate thesis courses and advises graduate students throughout their thesis process. Dr. Picou-Broadnax is a former high school history teacher and also served as a student affairs administrator working with first-generation college students in low-socioeconomic communities. Her background also includes work with several nonprofit organizations as an educational-funding advocate.
