Mission and Goal

Mission

The mission of the Teacher Education is to prepare Multiple Subject, Single Subject and Mild to Moderate Special Education teachers who are effective in California’s diverse schools. An effective teacher knows a variety of approaches to teaching and classroom management for large groups, small groups, and individuals.  An effective teacher uses approaches appropriate for the purposes of a given lesson and meets the development needs of students from various cultural, socioeconomic and linguistic backgrounds in language and literacy development.

Goal

The goal of National Hispanic University’s Teacher Education Credential Program is to provide pre-service and inservice teachers with the experiences necessary to build a complex understanding of teaching and learning and  a deep understanding of how schools operate.

Vision

The vision of the Teacher Education Department is to provide an education that prepares teacher leaders who have a deep understanding of the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the discipline(s) and who can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students.
