Mission

The mission of the Teacher Education Department is to prepare teachers who are effective in California's culturally and linguistically diverse schools. An effective teacher knows a variety of approaches to teaching and classroom management for large groups, small groups, and individuals. An effective teacher uses approaches appropriate for the purposes of a given lesson and meets the developmental needs of students from various cultural, socioeconomic and linguistic backgrounds.

Vision

The vision of the Teacher Education Department is to provide an understanding that prepares teacher leaders who have a deep understanding of cultural and educational concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the discipline(s) and who can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students.

Goal

The goal of The National Hispanic University's Teacher Education Credential Program is to prepare candidates for the Multiple, Single Subject (English, Mathematics, History-Social Science, Science, Art, Physical Education and Spanish) and Mild to Moderate Education Specialist credential.
