POSITION: PEER ADVISOR FOR LEARNING SKILLS (PALS)
DEPARTMENT: Pre-College
STATUS: Part-Time (19 hours per week)
REPORTS TO: Pre-College Office Coordinator |

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide students with academic assistance assigned area as directed by instructor or project staff.
- Serve as a liaison between students, instructors, parents and project staff.
- Assist participants to develop good study techniques and learning activities.
- Assist project staff in the planning and implementation of educational, recreational, guidance and cultural activities.
- Ensure the safety and well being of participants at and during program activities.
- Monitor students’ academic and social progress/development and submit evaluation as designated.
- Supervise all participants in general, and an assigned group of 8-10 students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be an enrolled college student in good standing academically.
- Must have a good academic background in Math, Science, and/or English.
- Must possess sensitivity to the needs of students who are low income and potential first generation college bound.
- Must have at least one year of experience working with low income youth in an educational setting.
- Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish/English).
SALARY: $9 - 12/hour
