GIRL SCOUTS OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY


JOB TITLE: Membership Specialist (Part-Time)
 
COUNCIL OVERVIEW: Richly diverse and growing Girl Scouts Council serving 17,000 inner city, urban and suburban girls through 35 full time, 20-150 seasonal staffs and 4,500 volunteers.
 
BASIC FUNCTION: The Membership Specialist primary responsibility is working with the girls and volunteers for carrying out the educational and recreation group programs that empowers girls and helps them to develop in mind, body, and spirit. The Membership Specialist serves on the Troop Development team.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Working in partnership with the girls and other group volunteers in the planning of safe and quality group activities.
* Facilitate activities/program and learning for girl participants.
* Ensure that all group members are registered as members of GSUSA.
* Recruit adult support for group activities (product sales, treasurer, field trips etc…).

* Maintain confidentiality of girl contact information and health history records.
* Participate as an active member of the Service Unit.  Attend monthly Service Unit Leader meetings.
* Implement selected troop development plans to help achieve the organizational membership goals.

* Assist with large girl/adult registration events and other recruitment events.  May include coordinating events, developing recruitment materials, or making presentation about participating in Girl Scouts to girls or adults at schools, community centers, or organizations.
* Support and promote Council’s fundraising and product sales activities.
* Ensure the participants’ health and safety during the program.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School diploma or equivalent. One – six months experience facilitating youth programs.

* Skilled planning, organization, and evaluation.
* Ability to implement and adapt curriculum/program to audience needs.
* Ability to foster a spirit of cooperation and teamwork with adult volunteers as well as function constructively and cooperatively in a group.
* Desire to promote and provide Girl Scout opportunities to all girls and adults in a geographic area
* Desire to work with people from diverse culture

* Strong interest in issues affecting girls and young women.
* Strong human relations skills.
* Excellent math, written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Adult or child education experience helpful.

* Bilingual in Spanish.
* Ability to lift, carry and deliver boxes weighting up to 20-30 lbs.
* Possess a valid CA driver’s license, auto registration and insurance.
* Possess or willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR certification and Basic Leadership Training.
* Minimum 21 years of age to operate company vehicles.

 
HOURS: 10-20 hours/week; some evenings, weekend; flexible schedule.


SALARY:  $10 - $15 /hour
