The National Hispanic University
Celebrates the Official
Dedication Of Their New Learning
Facility
The Official Dedication Ceremony
for the new, state of the art,
learning facility for The
National Hispanic University (NHU)
will take place on Friday,
September 17th, from 10:00 AM -
12:00 Noon at 14271 Story Road,
East San Jose. The Ceremony is
open to the public. From 12:00
Noon - 2:00 PM, there will also
be an "Open House" of the new
building with a festive
atmosphere including food and
refreshments.
"Everyone is invited to attend
and participate in this very
special event," indicated Dr.
David Lopez, NHU President,
"This is an excellent
opportunity for individuals
interested in attending The NHU
to learn more about what The
University has to offer. It is
also a good time for local
business representatives
interested in doing business
with The NHU to come by and get
acquainted with our staff and
the new facility."
Local business and community
leaders, education professionals
from local and regional high
schools, community colleges, and
universities, the entire NHU
familia, including students,
Board of Trustees, Corporate
Board of Advisors, faculty,
staff, alumni, supporters, and
many local businesses and
residents from the area will be
joining in the celebration.
The NHU was founded by Dr.
Roberto Cruz in 1981 to provide
affordable and accessible
quality education to students
who might not otherwise have the
opportunity to earn college
degrees. Today, The NHU
graduates thousands of students
who are trained, capable, and
ready for leadership in a
variety of fields including
education, business, and
technology.
The NHU is currently at a
significant stage of expanding
its facilities and services.
"With the completion of this new
building, we have reached a
significant milestone in the
history of The National Hispanic
University," states Dr. Lopez
"We are very proud of the
ongoing support the
corporations, businesses, and
communities from the Bay Area
have provided, over the years.
This very special institution
was established for creating
opportunities, advancing quality
education, and helping to insure
the future success of this
growing and dynamic community."
Financing for construction of
the new $25 million learning
facility has received
considerable support from local
corporations and foundations
including the Sobrato Family
Foundation, The Applied
Materials Foundation, Devcon
Construction, the William
Randolph Hearst Foundation, the
David & Lucile Packard
Foundation, the Amador Bustos
Family Foundation, the Arrillaga
Family Fund, the Koret
Foundation, the McKenna Family
Foundation, Comerica Bank, the
Morgan Family Foundation, Therma
Corporation, The Valley
Foundation of Los Gatos, Lenders
for Community Development,
Safeway, Inc., Cisco Systems

The National Hispanic University
is an independent, accredited,
non-profit university offering
degree programs in business,
liberal studies, computer
information systems and a
credential program for
elementary and secondary
teachers. The NHU has also
established the Latino College
Preparatory Academy, a charter
high school that currently
serves 400 students who are
English Language Learners.
