Rigo Chacon and The National
Hispanic University: Fundraising
Tardeada
Release Date: April 22, 1999
(draft)
Television news
anchorman Rigo Chacon (KGO-TV channel 7), and The National
Hispanic University (NHU) will be coming together on May 15,
1999, 4:00-7:30pm, for a fundraising tardeada
(afternoon festivity) to benefit the University. The event will be
taking place at the home of Rigo Chacon in San Jose. There he will
be donating the use of his home and the live entertainment, a
mariachi band, provided for all the guests attending. All those in
the surrounding community who made the necessary donation to attend
will be joined by Dr. Roberto Cruz, President of The National
Hispanic University, and Rigo Chacon. All proceeds will benefit The
National Hispanic University.
This will be the
second tardeada to be hosted by Rigo Chacon. Last year's
event was a successful fundraiser, making those who previously
attended anxious to join in the festivities this May.
The National Hispanic
University is an independent, nationally accredited, non-profit
institution of higher education that was authorized to grant degrees
in 1981 by the California Department of Education, Office of Private
Post-secondary and Vocational Education. The University offers
degree programs in business, liberal studies, education, and
computer science at the Associate and Bachelor's levels. The
University also sponsors various extended programs that address the
educational needs of K-12 within the community.
